HOW IT WORKS - BASIC INFO

Before using it, it is good to understand the product and the concept behind it.

The POWERBALL's size is between a tennis ball and a cricket ball (divameter 7.1cm) and weight only 280 gram.

First a bit of dry physics:
"A gyroscope is a solid object that is designed to spin around a central axis. The ends of the axle rest on bearings in a steel ring, or gimbals. Start the top spinning and as long as it continues to spin rapidly, the top will remain balanced on its pointed end. More important, the direction of the top's spin axis will resist any attempt to change the direction of the axis about which the rotor turns. This basic property results from the top's strong Angular Momentum. The rigidity in space of a gyroscope is a consequence of Newton's first law of motion which states that a body at rest tends to continue in its state of rest or uniform motion unless subject to outside forces. Thus, the wheel of a gyroscope, when started spinning, tends to continue to rotate in the same plane about the same axis in space...
Precession - When a force (your hand) is applied to a gyroscope it tends to change the direction of the axis of rotation, the axis will move in a direction at right angles to the direction in which the force is applied""

Understood?
In simpler words: "The faster you rotate the ball, the higher rpm can be achieved, generating up to approximately 15,000 rpm, equivalent to 18kgs of 'force'. Not a single handheld gyroscope has been so efficient."

FEATURES
  1. A computer was used to correct the balance of the rotor, so the ball has very excellent stability.
  2. There is a circle of silicone rubber on the surface of the ball. That can prevent the ball from sliding down to the ground, and the feeling of grasping is also better.
  3. The plastic material is especially durable.
  4. The axle is made of steel, not iron. It is not easy to be broken

POWERBALL - Who should use it?

The POWERBALL helps to build up strength in the wrist, fingers, and upper and lower arm. Due to its limited size and low weight at it is ideal for sportsmen to carry it and use it in between their regular exercises; ideal for people working endless hours with keyboards to loosen their muscles; a perfect tool for gamers who need more strength in their hands; for homemakers and students for chiselled arms; arm strength for playing cricket, hockey, bow-shooting, tennis, weight lifting etc......

The more important is that it helps preventing such injuries. Start using the POWERBALL, and you shall directly understand that the POWERBALL trains muscles in a specific way.

HEALTH WARNING

A leading Dutch Occupational therapist, specialist in Hand Therapy noted that

"The Powerball is NOT a tool to which should be used by people suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome, repetitive strain injury and arthritis. Nevertheless, if used regularly, it can strengthen the muscles, potentially preventing injuries."

Beware that, due to its impact, children under14 years should not use the POWERBALL. If you develop specific muscle pains due to the used of the POWERBALL, you should change the frequency or duration the POWERBALL is used.

HOW TO GET IT STARTED?

Starting a Powerball is quite easy, but can take a little practice in order to practice your technique. A detailed description is enclosed in the box you purchased the Powerball in.

The rotation of the inner-ball has be initiated, this can be done with the help of the cord (delivered along with the POWERBALL). Stick the hard end of the cord in one of the holes inside de inner-ball and roll the cord tightly around the ball (inside the groove). Hold the ball in one hand and pull the cord with enough force to get the inner-ball spinning.

To keep the POWERBALL spinning, move your hand in circles. Try to understand/feel how the inner-ball rotates and how it can be kept spinning or how the spinning can be increased. If you can not feel the point that can make the inner-ball spin faster, try to re-position the POWERBALL in your hand slightly and continue.

Some people can not directly understand how to rotate the inner-ball, or how to increase the rotation. Do not worry, it is just a small trick. Some users claim that they can start the rotation by hand (without cord).

While starting the inner-ball, do not pull the cord in an angle (compare to the groove). This might cause the cord getting stuck inside the mechanism. If it happens anyway, stay cook, try to understand how the cord got stuck and remove it gently.

POWERBALL EXERCISES
  • Training for the grip of the fingers.
Hold the Powerball with the tip of your fingers only.
Thus you exercise the muscles in your fingers without risking any over-exercising.
This is because the rotor gets slower and the forces decrease as soon as you give in and reduce the power you put in.
This is very good training for rock climbers, mountain bikers or piano players

  • Wrist exercises.
Hold your Powerball firmly in your hand and accelerate while you perform circles with your wrist.
This is good training of your co-ordination. Do it clockwise and anti-clockwise. Do the same with the other hand.
After a long time of immobility due to injuries you can improve the mobility of your wrist. This exercise is also good for all kinds of sports where the wrist is important: tennis, hockey, cycling, golf.
The soft movement of the ball supports the healing process and your wrist will gain stability.

  • Exercises for the lower arm.
Accelerate the rotor while trying to hold the wrist firm and stiff. Now the power will automatically come from the muscles of your lower arm. You will even see how the muscles work and move.
Powerball is the best training device to improve the co-ordination of the lower arm muscles.
It is good warm-up before you start your sport. Even after only a short time of exercising you will feel your arm getting warm.

  • Exercises for your biceps.
Accelerate the rotor and hold the Powerball upwards as you see it in the picture.
You will feel how the muscles in your upper arm start working.
These exercises are good for all sports where a strong biceps is important: e.g. rock-climbing, tennis, rowing, and many others.

  • Exercises for the triceps.
Accelerate the Powerball. Hold your arm outstretched and turn the back of your hand inward and to the front. You will feel how the triceps works.
This exercise is good for all sports where strong upper arm muscles are important: tennis, rowing, climbing

  • Exercises for your shoulder.
Hold your arm stretched to the side and accelerate. This exercise can ease the pain in your shoulders and you will feel the positive effect up to your neck.
One thing is true for all exercises. In order to accelerate the Powerball and support the rotation you have to get a feeling for the ball. This is very good for your concentration and you will improve your body feeling.
